In late 2020 I contacted Brentwood Home to find out about fiberglass, and other materials.

Contacting Brentwood Home About Fiberglass

I contacted Brentwood Home and asked these questions:

“Do any of your latex or memory foam mattresses contain fiberglass, modacrylic, or silica in the covers or any other part of the mattress? What countries are your memory foam mattresses made in?”

Brentwood Home replied very quickly and told me this:

Brentwood Home Hydrated Silica Fiberglass 2020

“Our memory foam mattresses are made right here in our factory in Fullerton, CA. They do not contain fiberglass in any part of the mattress and we use hydrated silica as a fire barrier. I have reached out to our product specialist team about modacrylic and as soon as I hear back I will get back to you.”
-Brentwood Home

The response from Brentwood was pretty favorable, since they stated mattresses don’t use fiberglass, and hydrated silica is generally regarded as safe. Plus, I didn’t sense any deception or non-transparency that I had become accustomed to with other mattress brands.

Later reply regarding modacrylic:

“Upon speaking with our Product Specialist Team, they informed us that these fibers are used in toxic fire retardants. We do not use any chemical fire retardants.”

So, Does Brentwood Home Use Fiberglass?

Brentwood Home is very open about all the materials used in its mattresses. It even has a page on its website that’s dedicated to all the Brentwood Home mattress materials that are utilized.

However, like most mattress brands, Brentwood Home doesn’t go into detail about its flame barrier on its main materials page. What sets Brentwood Home apart from most other brands, though, are the multiple support pages that do explain its use of hydrated silica.

Brentwood Home claims to be fiberglass-free, and I have not found a single report of fiberglass in its mattresses to contradict those claims. I feel very confident that Brentwood Home does not use fiberglass.
