In late 2019 Best Price Mattress was selling a ton of mattresses on Amazon. Since fiberglass in mattresses was getting attention in the media, I decided to ask them about fiberglass.
It turned out to be a good idea, because it became evident after reading reviews that Best Price Mattress was possibly hiding fiberglass.
Contacting Best Price Mattress About Fiberglass
I contacted Best Price Mattress and asked them these questions:
“Do any of your memory foam mattresses contain fiberglass, modacrylic, or silica in the covers or any other part of the mattress? What countries are your memory foam mattresses made in?”
Best Price Mattress got back to me the next day with this response:
“Our memory foam mattresses contain a silica based fire sock that encases the foam inside the mattress. Our materials are globally sourced in countries such as Thailand, Spain, Serbia, Vietnam, China and South Korea.” -Best Price Mattress, 9/17/2019
The response was a bit shady. Best Price Mattress dodged the fiberglass question and stated its foam mattresses only contain silica when I contacted them. Also, the Best Price Mattress website said mattresses are “Designed in the USA” but failed to mention that they could actually be constructed in Canada, Europe, or USA.
However, Best Price Mattress reviews on Amazon mentioned fiberglass. That was one of the first times I saw fiberglass use disguised as silica.
So, Does Best Price Mattress Have Fiberglass?
I got back in touch with Best Price Mattress recently to see if things had changed. I contacted them in live chat, which is operated by their parent company Mellow Home, and asked if their mattresses had fiberglass.
This is the response I got back from Best Price Mattress via email:
“Please provide me with the mattress information so I may assist you further..”
I took that response from Best Price Mattress to basically mean that at least one of its mattresses still had fiberglass, otherwise they wouldn’t need to know which mattress I was asking about.
At that point, I wrote off Best Price Mattress off as most likely still containing fiberglass.
