Signature Designs is a mattress line by Ashley Furniture that was selling many Chime model mattresses on Amazon in 2019 and 2020.
However, when another big mattress seller got attention for its products leaking fiberglass, I decided to look into Signature Designs Chime mattresses.
Contacting Signature Designs about Fiberglass
Back in September 2019 I used a contact form on Ashley’s website to ask about fiberglass in a Signature Designs, Chime mattress more specifically.
This is what I Asked Ashley Furniture:
“Does your Ashley Furniture Signature Design Chime.. contain any fiberglass in the cover? How are fire retardant requirements met??”
Sadly, the email reply Ashley Furnite sent did NOT answer my question at all. It simply stated that Signature Designs Chime mattresses were made in Arcadia, WI, without flame retardant chemicals.
Even more sad was the inclusion of an email footer that stated this non-binding warning that I never agreed to:
“The information contained in this e-mail may be confidential and is intended solely for the addressee. Unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, distribution or other action taken or omitted relying on the contents of this message, is prohibited and may be unlawful.”

I’m not sure what Ashley Furniture so afraid of, it’s not like it gave ANY useful information regarding its Signature Designs mattresses.
Signature Designs Fiberglass Evidence
Ashley Furniture’s Signature Designs mattresses weren’t just some random mattress line that I decided to look into about fiberglass. I already suspected its use of fiberglass for good reason, and getting in contact was just my way of giving Ashley Furniture a chance to be transparent and honest.
When I sent the email to Ashley asking about fiberglass in Signature Designs mattresses, there were already numerous reviews on Amazon that indicated fiberglass leaking from mattresses.
What’s most concerning when seeing all the Amazon reviews regarding Signature Designs Chime mattresses leaking fiberglass is this 2020 Amazon question answered by Ashley that I found.
This is the Amazon question:
“Does the 10″ express chime mattress contain fiberglass, as of 2020? I saw some reviews saying it does contain fiberglass and it is listed on the tag.”

This was the answer from Ashley Furniture:
“Hello, the Chime mattresses do not contain fiberglass. Thank you for your quesiton. (sic)”

Ashley Furniture misled potential customers by saying its Signature Designs Chime mattresses did not contain fiberglass, while reviews showed the mattresses leaking glass-like fibers.
Signature Designs Fiberglass Closing
Ashley Furniture has never been honest or transparent regarding the potential use of fiberglass in its mattresses, especially the best-selling Chime mattresses on Amazon and other online retailers.
I would avoid Signature Designs mattresses, including Chime mattresses, since Ashley Furniture has yet to acknowledge the potential hazards of irresponsible glass fiber use, and has made no plans to change the unsafe design of its mattresses.
