Does Amazon Basics have Fiberglass in Mattresses? Not Currently

Since I started researching fiberglass in mattresses in late 2019, I’ve never recommended Amazon Basics when it comes to mattresses without fiberglass.

Amazon Basics Contained Fiberglass Before

Initially, Amazon Basics mattress offerings were pretty slim, just 6 and 8 inch memory foam mattresses. The mattresses were very basic, nondescript, and made no mention of whom the manufacturer actually was.

Therefore, I could not do any real research regarding fiberglass materials. Even if I did, Amazon could have changed suppliers of its Amazon Basics mattresses at any time.

There were reviews on Amazon Basics mattress listing in 2019 and 2020, however, that seemed to show they did contain fiberglass.

For these reasons, I just wrote Amazon Basics off.

Do Amazon Basics Still Have Fiberglass?

Nothing has changed, those same listings from 2020 for Amazon Basics mattresses that mentioned fiberglass in the reviews are still live. The appearances of those original Amazon Basics mattresses have changed, and the supplier may have even changed as well, but the reviews are still there.

Recent reviews on the older Amazon Basics mattress listings show law labels from 2023 that list the flame barrier containing 20% FR Viscose (Visil Rayon) and 80% Polyester instead of the older labels that showed 35% glass fiber, suggesting fiberglass may have been removed.

There are some additional Amazon Basics mattresses for sale these days, 10 and 12 inch models, as well as 7 and 9 inch “Euro-Top” models, where previously only 6 and 8 inch models were available. The newer models don’t seem to have ever contained fiberglass, but it’s hard to be sure.

Who Make Amazon Basics Mattresses?

Older review photos of Amazon Basics mattresses show Innocor as being the manufacturer, and Innocor merged with FXI in 2020. There are also newer Amazon reviews that show FXI being the supplier of Amazon Basics mattresses.

FXI is the parent company of Molecule, Nue, Novaform, and Sleep Innovations mattress brands, some of which are known for using fiberglass.

Nue is the only brand under FXI that is supposedly fiberglass-free, while Novaform and Molecule use fiberglass in some of their models, and Sleep Innovations uses fiberglass in all of its models.

Final Thoughts on Amazon Basics Fiberglass

Amazon Basics mattresses might have all had fiberglass a few years ago, and they could all be Fiberglass-free in the present.

The problem is, there are thousands of old Amazon Basics mattresses with fiberglass already in them, and the new ones could go back to having fiberglass at any time.
