Diamond Mattress is a California company with roots going back to Oklahoma 80 years ago, with a recently opened second factory in Texas. Not only does it sell mattresses in its own stores, but also online, plus it manufactures custom “white label” mattress for other bed selling brands.

I was first made aware of Diamond Mattress by fiberglass-free posts on popular furniture and mattress magazine websites. I decided to look into Diamond’s fiberglass use myself instead of relying on 3rd-party sources.

Diamond Mattress Fiberglass Use

I contacted Diamond Mattress and asked it these questions:

“Do any of your latex and/or memory foam mattresses contain Fiberglass, Modacrylic, Polyester, Rayon, or Silica in the covers or any other part of the mattress? What about Fire Retardant sprays like Antimony, are any of them used on your mattresses? What countries are your mattresses made in?”

Diamond Mattress got back to me very quickly and said this:

Diamond Mattress Fiberglass Free Email

“Our products/fire retardants do not contain any fiberglass, Modacrylic, or Silica. We do have polyester and rayon in some products. We do not use any fire retardant sprays. Our mattresses are made in the U.S.A since 1946.”

Diamond Mattress Mystery Flame Barrier

It’s good that Diamond Mattress manufactures fiberglass-free mattresses that are also free of modacrylic and silica. However, I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly it uses instead of fiberglass, and so far I’ve hit a brick wall.

Diamond Mattress might be fiberglass-free, but without knowing how flammability tests are passed, there is still a concern for potentially harmful chemicals being used.
